Welcome to the website of the Mixed choir of Jan Neruda High School, Prague!

Our choir has been singing since 1994. It was founded by Petr Bärtl, an excelent musician from all points of view and a teacher of music on our school. And he transformed a small group of music lovers into a large choir having now its renomé:

Since 1996 the choir has been a permanent finalist of " Gymnasia Cantant", the countrywide competition with the participation of the best high school choirs of the whole republic. For 7 years we have been regularly obtaining the gold belt ( the main prize ).
In the season 2004/05 our choir has obtained the gold belt and a special prize for the dramaturgy in the international competition" Young 2004 Prague". In 2005 the choir cooperated with a Princeton choir and we gave a common concert in a crowded Smetana's hall of the Municipal House in Prague. In September 2005 we took part in the festival Eurotreff Musik 2005 in Biberach. A part of the most enthousiastic singers traditionaly spends few days on a sprightly conceived assembly of the choir in Mnichovice near Vlašim. We have already organised two exchanges with choirs from Romania and France and we are planning exchanges to Netherlands and to the United States. We are still searching for the possibilities of exchanges with other foreign choirs.
